BACKWEB STRENGTHENS GLOBAL SALES AND MARKETING AND WORLDWIDE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS WITH VICE PRESIDENT APPOINTMENTS

Mobility Industry Veterans Appointed to Build Sales Pipeline and Expand Business Development Initiatives

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 20, 2005 – BackWeb Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: BWEB), announced today the addition of two seasoned executives. Mr. Pete Szalay has joined BackWeb as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, responsible for direct sales, marketing communications, corporate marketing and coordinating our efforts with partners in the field. Additionally, Mr. Moshe Raccah has joined as Vice President of Business Development and Professional Services, responsible for developing and growing business partnerships with key application service providers (ASPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), and system integrators (SIs) as well as managing BackWeb’s professional services group. Both will report to CEO, Bill Heye, and will work jointly to drive direct and partner-driven revenue growth and expand BackWeb’s position as a top tier global player in the mobile software marketplace.

Pete Szalay brings to BackWeb over 20 years of experience and expertise in growing global sales, business operations, and company brand awareness in the software and mobility markets. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Szalay was CEO of Aramova, Inc, a pioneer in intelligent access management solutions, where he led the company's expansion into the mobility and fixed mobile convergence markets. Prior to Aramova, Mr. Szalay was a founder and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Alopa Networks, a provider of middleware and client solutions to major telecommunications companies focused on enabling and managing internet services for its subscribers. Mr. Szalay has also held senior positions in sales, operations, and engineering at companies such as Ambit, Summit Design, Synopsys, and TRW.

Moshe Raccah brings over 20 years of high-tech experience in business management, sales, alliances, business development and IT. Mr. Raccah was most recently the Corporate Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Amdocs, a leading supplier of operations support software used by telecommunications service providers to deliver voice, data and wireless services. Prior to his four years at Amdocs, Mr. Raccah was the founder and CEO of Personetics, an Israeli software company focused on solutions for premier customer relationship commerce web sites. Prior to that, Mr. Raccah started and managed his own services company, Winsite, which was subsequently merged into what became Ness Ltd., one of the largest systems integrators in Israel. Mr. Raccah has also held senior management positions at Ipex Group, Microsoft Israel and Magic Software.

“We are thrilled to have attracted Pete and Moshe to our team,” said Bill Heye, Chief Executive Officer of BackWeb. “They both bring extensive experience and expertise to their roles and share our vision for BackWeb’s long term potential. We are confident that their contributions will help BackWeb further capitalize on the growing need for mobile and offline web solutions that are more commonly approached using service oriented architectures.

“We believe that Moshe’s proven ability to develop productive business partnerships with application providers and system integrators will help us expand our partner-related revenue, which has been an important part of our business this year. His experience in the professional services field will ensure that we continue to support our efforts to provide our customers and partners with high levels of service. Similarly, Pete will use his experience to help us expand our sales and marketing programs so we can address the growing need for mobile and offline web solutions through our direct sales effort and in concert with our partners. These two hires reflect BackWeb’s ability to solve enterprise mobility challenges, and we believe it is the appropriate time to expand our senior management ranks.”
