To date, BackWeb and BEA have worked with a number of joint customers and have demonstrated the strength of their combined solution in a range of industries. Together, BackWeb and BEA can provide a thin-client solution that is designed to help developers extend portal applications for offline use without changing the way they work, while helping customers extend the use of Web applications built with the BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1™. The resulting applications can help field sales and service organizations as they work to realize maximum productivity, cost savings and process acceleration gains from employees using BEA Web applications while disconnected from the network. “BEA’s validation of Offline Access Server helps to underscore the strength and technical readiness of our solution for organizations that want to keep business moving and mobile employees productive by providing a solution designed to allow offline access to portals, intranets and Web applications,” said Bill Heye, vice president of Business Development and Product Management at BackWeb. “By integrating the BackWeb Offline Access Server with the WebLogic Portal and the WebLogic Workshop, we can help companies make applications even more useful to employees in the field where mobility is their key to success.” The BEA Validation Program provides a testing framework to verify the technical readiness of partner solutions that complement, operate with, or extend the BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. Partners can validate the integration of their software applications and solutions with BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 or test the interoperability of Java controls and integrated development environment (IDE) extensions with BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1. The BEA Validation Program is open to all partners enrolled in the BEA Partner Program. “BackWeb is an important partner of BEA, providing a solution that is designed to help BEA customers more easily and cost-effectively mobilize, or offline enable, BEA portals for mobile laptop users with occasional network connectivity. We’re pleased that BackWeb is participating in the BEA Partner Program and has taken the extra step to validate BackWeb Offline Access Server with BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform,” said Larry Aronovitz, director of Worldwide Partner Programs, BEA Systems. “BEA’s validation program is designed to help accelerate adoption of partners’ solutions and increase market opportunities by helping to assure mutual customers that these partners’ technology solutions are verified to integrate with the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform.”
