BackWeb´s Internet Communication Infrastructure Software Now Being Deployed by Computer 2000 Sweden, a part of Tech Data Group, for Reseller Applications

UPPSALA, Sweden - July 2, 1999 - BackWeb® Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), a leading provider of Priority Internet communication infrastructure and applications software for the extended enterprise, announced that Computer 2000 Sweden AB, a part of Tech Data Group, has chosen BackWeb and has begun deploying its technology to an extended enterprise of resellers. BackWeb's Priority Internet communication infrastructure software is embedded into Computer 2000 Sweden AB's InfoCast 2000, which will enable the company to communicate with over 2,000 resellers in an up-to-date and targeted way.

"BackWeb provides us with a solution that optimizes network bandwidth, and enables us to communicate with our resellers in the most efficient way," says Niclas Heurlin, Product Marketing Director at Computer 2000 Sweden AB. "In the past, we used faxes, e-mail and the Web, but they weren't as effective as BackWeb. In addition, we needed a solution that was bi-directional. BackWeb's closed-loop delivery system fits the bill."

With InfoCast 2000, Computer 2000 Sweden AB has an interactive tool that is projected to simplify the reseller dialog. Important news is delivered through sophisticated Flashes, which can contain any size or type of file including rich multimedia. All information distributed in the system is tailored to the receivers' preferences. The recipients decide what information they want and the format in which it is delivered. The authorized resellers can opt for BackWeb's Automated Marketing Encyclopedia, which can contain presentations, marketing collateral and other key reseller documents. The material is delivered through BackWeb's network-sensitive Polite™ technology and is automatically updated in the background so resellers always have the most up-to-date information.

"With BackWeb's priority delivery system, Computer 2000's resellers will continuously receive business-critical information including everything from price lists, to product updates, to special offers," said Jean Francois Guyomar, Managing Director of BackWeb Technology Europe. "With BackWeb, we believe Computer 2000 Sweden AB will be able to achieve a competitive edge, and ensure the success of its partners."
