BackWeb CEO to Speak at PwC Seminar:
The Next Generation of B2E
SAN JOSE, Calif.— June 17, 2002 - BackWeb Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), the leading provider of ProactivePortal™ technologies for the enterprise, today announced that Eli Barkat, Chairman and CEO of BackWeb Technologies, will be speaking at the PwC Consulting Seminar, The Next Generation of B2E (Business to Enterprise) on June 20th in New York.
One of the most common challenges that has arisen in the portal market is lack of user acceptance. According to the META Group, technically adept portals that are never accepted by the enterprise contribute to the high failure rate of portals – an estimated 30% in 2001.
"Even the most rigorous ROI studies cannot assure that the portal will actually be used when deployed," said David Yockelson, senior vice president of Electronic Business Strategies, META Group vice president, META Group. "Users must consider the appropriate content and critical capabilities, such as offline access, that will drive adoption and usage early in deployment."
In the session, "Anywhere, Anytime Portal Usage," Mr. Barkat will address critical issues affecting the adoption and success of enterprise portal deployments. Mr. Barkat believes strongly that the key to driving usage and adoption of the portal is to ensure that the portal is designed to adapt to the way end users work and not vice versa. Mr. Barkat's presentation will address these challenges and discuss the strategies, stages and critical technologies to deploy a portal so that it is used anytime, anywhere.
As a key contributor to PwC Consulting's B2E initiative, BackWeb® technology helps power complete portal solutions with offline access and notification capabilities for employees, customers and partners.
