(June 11, 1997) - BackWeb Technologies, a leading push/pull Internet broadcasting company, today announced the final release of BackWeb version 2.0, the latest version of its client/server "push" software with several new enhancements that conserve corporate network bandwidth and increase personalization capability. The company also announced the debut of several new Intranet and extranet channels, including ChannelWEB, CommerceNet, Concentric Network and EDTN. Among its new features, BackWeb 2.0 includes: differential download to isolate new or changed files for transmission to users, reducing the amount of information that needs to be downloaded; Infopak versioning to distribute and manage updated information on user PCs; automatic compression capabilities to streamline communications between servers and clients; and the BackWeb Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows channels to integrate the BackWeb client with their own applications. "Our latest version puts BackWeb at the forefront of serious enterprise push solutions," said Eli Barkat, CEO of BackWeb Technologies.
