BackWeb Showcases ProactivePortal Technology at SAPPHIRE '02 Orlando

SAN JOSE, CA.- June 4, 2002 —BackWeb Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), the leading provider of ProactivePortal™ technologies for the enterprise, announced today it will showcase its ProactivePortal technology solutions for offline portals June 5-7 at SAP's Sapphire '02 Orlando. The company's exhibit will be located at booth #463.

In January 2002, BackWeb announced a technology partnership with SAP Portals whereby the ProactivePortal Server is delivered through its iView technology. As a result of the relationship, BackWeb offline enables iViews and proactively delivers that information through an enterprise portal environment; ensuring that the end-user has uninterrupted portal access, online as well as offline, and that the local content is continuously updated.

"Offline support and proactive notifications for enterprise portals will be a critical factor for companies who wish to gain faster portal project payback, especially since the knowledge workers who contribute to the company's bottom line are most often mobile and disconnected," said Erez Lorber, vice president of worldwide business development, BackWeb Technologies.

As an enterprise-class solution, the BackWeb® ProactivePortal Server integrates with portal frameworks to deliver offline access to critical content. BackWeb offline portal technology allows users to access critical content while disconnected from the Internet—yet with the same personalized user experience offline as online. This is especially critical for millions of remote users who contribute to a company's bottom line such as executives and sales personnel. These mobile users do not have consistent Internet connections but still require access to critical content on the portal for reaching their business goals.
