BackWeb Announces Joint Solution to Extend BEA Applications to Mobile Workers

BackWeb Increases Value of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Applications Running on the WebLogic Platform

BEA eWorld, San Francisco, Calif., May 24, 2004—BackWeb Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: BWEB) today announced a solution that is designed to help BEA customers more easily and cost-effectively mobilize, or offline enable, any BEA Web application for mobile laptop users with intermittent network connectivity. Announced at BEA's eWorld Conference in San Francisco, the joint solution aims to help sales and field service organizations realize maximum productivity, cost savings and process acceleration gains from employees using BEA Web applications while disconnected from the network.

Customers utilize BackWeb® Offline Access Server™ technology to gain mobile, disconnected use of their portals and Web applications for increased field sales and field service productivity. To date, BackWeb and BEA have worked with joint customers and have demonstrated the strength of their combined solution with a range of companies, including one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, which is providing thousands of mobile sales representatives uninterrupted availability of content contained in their portal which is based on BEA and Documentum technology, as well as a multi-billion dollar healthcare company that is giving their field sales representatives access to critical content such as contacts, leads and opportunities while disconnected from the network.

BackWeb will integrate its BackWeb Offline Access Server technology with WebLogic Workshop to allow developers to simultaneously create applications that work both online and offline and help obtain the highest possible return from investments in Web applications built with BEA Workshop. BEA WebLogic Workshop is designed to enable developers to rapidly create, test and deploy service-oriented, enterprise-class applications and Web services on the BEA WebLogic platform.

"This announcement builds on our success jointly selling with BEA in the marketplace and makes it possible for BEA customers to mobilize their applications for offline use," said Erez Lorber, CEO of BackWeb. "By integrating the BackWeb Offline Access Server with the BEA Portal and the WebLogic Workshop, we allow the companies to make applications even more useful to employees in the field where mobility is their key to success."
