Keynote to Address Leveraging Enterprise Portals to Drive Business Change & Profitability

SAN JOSE, Calif.- April 30, 2002 - BackWeb Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), the leading provider of ProactivePortal™ technologies for the enterprise, today announced that its CEO and the Vice President and CIO of Owens-Illinois (NYSE:OI), a new BackWeb® ProactivePortal Server customer, will be speaking at the DCI Corporate and e-Business Portals Conference in San Francisco on May 1, 2002.

Fifteen-year industry veteran, Earl Newsome, VP and CIO of Owens-Illinois, and Eli Barkat, chairman and CEO of BackWeb Technologies, will discuss portal implementations and the ‘must have' technology components that are critical to it's success. The session "How to Drive Business Change and Increase Shareholder Value Through Your Corporate Portal" will take place on Wednesday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m. (PT) at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
