Addresses why Usage and Adoption are Critical Elements in Early Portal Deployments

On Friday, at 1:30 p.m. (PDT), Mr. Braham will speak on Enterprise Portals: Working Offline and Online. The presentation will address how enterprise portals, by bringing work to the Web, can serve as a single point of interaction where people conduct real work. Today many workers are mobile and have poor and inconsistent access to their enterprise portal. These mobile workers are generally critical users who are revenue- generating employees in high level sales or executive positions. Although portals have become a preferred infrastructure to provide employees critical information, they require mobile users do the heavy lifting by having to visit and retrieve information, are not available offline in a manner such as email, and thus severely limit portal usage and adoption. Drawing on case-study examples such as HP, Duke Energy and Guidant, Mr. Braham will illustrate that a growing number of companies are viewing mobile employees as the true destination of critical content, thereby maximizing their IT investments.
