BackWeb Expands Relationship With SAP Through New Reseller Agreement

BackWeb Offline Portal Technology Provides Support for Disconnected Capabilities of mySAP™ CRM Running on Laptop Computers

San Jose, Calif. – March 24, 2003 – BackWeb Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), a leading provider of offline web infrastructure software, today announced that it has signed a reseller contract with SAP (NYSE:SAP) that will broaden the support for disconnected capabilities of mySAP™ Customer Relationship Management (mySAP™ CRM) running on laptop computers. This new agreement enables SAP customers to increase the business value of their mySAP CRM solution, by providing complementary capabilities which extend mySAP CRM Field Sales, Service, and Marketing solutions to laptop users, even when they are offline and disconnected from the Internet. According to the terms of the contract, SAP will resell the BackWeb ProactivePortal® technology to its customers.

The agreement allows SAP to leverage the distinct competitive advantages that the BackWeb offline portal infrastructure provides: from Polite® network-sensitive content delivery, through enterprise-wide scalability and transparent web integration that offers a consistent user experience both online and offline. Additionally, each company has also agreed to train the other's sales force and consultants on the features and functionality of the product offerings, and to participate in a variety of joint marketing activities.
