BackWeb Technologies Announces Key Executive Appointments

SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 22, 1999 - BackWeb™ Technologies, a leading provider of Internet communication infrastructure and applications for the extended enterprise, today announced it has appointed two key executives, Hanan Miron, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Carla Stratfold, Vice President of Strategic Alliances.

As Chief Financial Officer, Hanan Miron brings to BackWeb nearly 20 years of expertise in finance, law and operations. Prior to joining the company, he held consecutive positions as Vice President & CFO of NICE Systems Ltd., and President of NICE Systems North American Operations. NICE Systems is a leading global provider of Computer Telephony Integrated (CTI) logging, quality measurement and workflow solutions for voice, fax and data. Miron holds a LLB degree from the Law School of the Hebrew University and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration of Dartmouth College.

As BackWeb Technologies' new Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Stratfold brings more than 15 years of high-tech industry expertise to the company. Prior to joining BackWeb, she spent ten years at Oracle Corporation where she was most recently Vice President of Product Sales and Marketing for the United States, Canada, Latin America and Brazil. During her tenure at Oracle, her organization was responsible for developing the sales strategies for 145 products, including the Oracle Server and Development Tools, Manufacturing, Financials and Sales Force Automation applications. Stratfold also worked for Applied Data Research in the Systems Products division, Nordstrom and SuperValu. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University.

The additions complement the current BackWeb executive team, which includes Eli Barkat, CEO; Gwen Spertel, Senior Vice President; Roni Or, Vice President of Product Development; Doug Roseborough, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing; Pat Wynne, Vice President of North American Sales; and Jean Francois Guyomar, Managing Director of European Operations.
