Micrografx to Push Graphics Content with BackWeb Channel

Los Angeles, (March 13, 1997) - At Internet World here today, Micrografx®, Inc. (NASDAQ:MGXI), a global leader in graphics software, unveiled its plans to use BackWeb Technologies' client/server push software to build a personalized Internet broadcasting channel for regular delivery of rich graphics content and applications directly to PC users' desktops. The company will create a segmented channel to deliver appropriate, targeted content and software updates to users of its graphics products, from web graphics to structured diagramming and enterprise graphics to personal creativity.

Micrografx plans to use its BackWeb channel to deliver software updates, best business practices and other industry-specific process models to enterprise customers using Micrografx FlowCharter® 7 for business process reengineering. For users of its Webtricity™ web graphics software, Graphics Suite™ 2 enterprise graphics suite, and personal creativity products, Windows Draw® and CreataCard® Plus™, Micrografx plans to broadcast rich graphics content, mini applications, ActiveX controls, VRML worlds, artwork and greeting cards.

The Micrografx personalized broadcasting channel will be available in the next quaarter. To receive content, users can go to the Micrografx site at www.micrografx.com or the BackWeb site at www.backweb.com, download the free client software and subscribe to the Micrografx channel. Subscribers will then receive content from Micrografx at regular intervals, downloaded in the background during idle online time. Users will be alerted to the arrival of the content with BackWeb's unique Flashes, which find users in the application they're using and alert them with a brief summary at the bottom of the screen. If interested, the user simply clicks on the Flash to get the downloaded content.
