BackWeb Names Bob Braham Vice President of Marketing

Marketing Expert to Bring Strong Leadership and Execution to Company's Corporate Marketing, Product Positioning and Demand Creation Initiatives

SAN JOSE, Calif.- March 5, 2001 - BackWeb® Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), a leading provider of push communication infrastructure for e-business, today announced the appointment of Bob Braham as vice president of marketing. Braham brings 20 years of sales and marketing experience to BackWeb, including valuable experience in helping to shape product and corporate marketing strategies from industry giants such as Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.

As vice president of marketing, Braham is responsible for all corporate and product marketing initiatives, demand creation, and branding for BackWeb's worldwide marketing team. Braham will help the company position its push communication infrastructure for widespread market adoption as a business critical solution.

Prior to joining BackWeb, Braham was vice president of marketing for StrataSource, an Internet-based software and services company. He was responsible for all partner and product marketing, corporate communications and demand creation. Previously, Braham held director level marketing positions for Sun Microsystems and was actively involved in the company's launch of its 100% Java branding program.

Braham also held various sales and marketing positions at Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics and Hewlett-Packard. At all three companies, he helped consistently exceed sales quotas and increase revenue generation. He is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
